Disciples of Christ Church. Disciples of Christ Church emerged from the American Restoration Movement in the early 19th century under leaders Alexander Campbell and Barton Stone. This denomination is committed to Christian unity, as reflected in their motto “In essentials, unity; in non-essentials, liberty; in all things, charity.” Disciples practice open communion weekly and believer’s baptism by immersion, though they recognize other baptism forms. Their governance is congregational with supportive regional and general structures rather than hierarchical control.
